Why are our home window tinting services so in demand?

Make a significant impact on your home without invasive construction.

Here at ITD Tinting, we want to explain the many benefits of home window tinting. Most people don’t tend to think all that much about it because it’s essentially invisible. Yet, we can guarantee you’ve stepped inside an inviting home treated with this high-quality window film without even knowing it was there. In retrospect, it’s precisely why you were so cool and comfortable in the first place and why you weren’t getting hit by so much glare.

One of the best parts about window tinting is that you can get so many benefits with little impact and change around the house.

That’s the key here. We want to increase the performance of your home but not change the look. So, let’s talk about the benefits that are included with our home window tinting. For starters, there are plenty of reasons clients call on us. Heat and glare control tend to be the number one reason in the hotter months. These clients want to protect their furniture, flooring, artwork and space. No one wants their family photos to fade, but pictures are so susceptible to fading and damage, along with everything else in the home. If we – living, breathing human beings – are affected by the sun, so is everything else.

Whilst our clients call for heat reduction in the summer, these films work all year and throughout all seasons.

Our home window tinting services benefit you every season – not just when you’re hot. For example, most of our clients encounter more fading in the wintertime than in the summer. They would go to work when it was cold and dark in the morning and when they returned home, it was cooler and darker still. Yet, their windows were exposed the entire time they had been working, and everything inside had been sunbathing. You think about it more in the summertime, so you close things up in the morning before you go to work. This way, it’s cool when you get home. It slows it down. In wintertime, you don’t think about it, so you encounter damage.

ITD Tinting has films and solutions for literally any home window tinting problem you can think of.

“How are you going to help us select the right film?” Well, what problems are plaguing your particular home? The key to answering this popular question is reaching out to a quality service provider like us. We have techniques, knowledge and capability to guide you and help you decide what film is best for you and your family. In selecting that product, we can give you an exact quote and list its associated benefits – like security, privacy, decoration, etc. The list goes on. The reason people call us seems to be seasonally driven as well. Wintertime tends to be mainly cosmetic concerns, whereas, in the summertime, we focus more on heat and glare.

The benefits of our home window tinting

✔ Reduce heat to stay cool and enhance your property or car’s air conditioning

✔ Protect your loved ones from the sun by blocking out over 99% of UV rays

✔ Depending on the shade, tinted windows can prevent prying eyes from looking in

✔ Reduce glare and enable a much more pleasant and safer viewing experience

✔ Certain window films can help protect you against smash and grabs or collisions

How do we know home window tinting is worth the investment?

We’re going to prove home window tinting does work and is worth getting installed.

We want to discuss the differences and showcase how home window tinting has advanced over time. These advancements not only assist the performance of the film once installed on your windows but, most importantly, how long the window film lasts. If you went back 30-40 years ago, when window film was starting, there’s a tremendous difference compared to today. This is especially the case when it comes to performance. When it comes to the performance, back then, you could only get 30-40 heat rejection. Compare that to now, where you can get films that go in the 70-80 heat rejection, depending on the type of home window tinting you would pick for your project.

Firstly, we’ll explore the difference between standard and high-performance ceramic films.

Okay, most people pick standard films because the price seems slightly more attractive at the lower end of the scale. However, selecting that type of film doesn’t provide all the benefits associated with ceramic or reflective films for your home. We used a BTU meter to emphasise the difference between a standard film from 30-40 years ago and today’s high-performance reflective films. Our BTU meter is currently logging around 320, which is typical for a sweltering, sunny day at about 25-30 degrees outside. So, this is a very average temperature for the summertime, but we’re going to show the difference. So right now, we have the darkest standard window film, and we’re going to show how much it registers with the BTU readings. Okay, it’s currently reading 320. Yet, as soon as we put the film in front of it . . . it drops to around 280.

However, what we’re going to do now is show you our clearest ceramic film.

We’re doing this to explain that – not only is a ceramic film better at performance, but you can get a virtually clear film. Yet, despite being transparent, it will still outperform the darkest of the standard films available. Once we install this film on any window, you can hardly tell it’s there. So, we’re going to test this. Right now, the BTU meter is measuring 360, which is way more than the other at around 330. Okay, so right now, it’s 360, but when we put the virtually transparent ceramic film in front of it . . . it drops down and pretty much cuts it in half to 170. So, what this tells you is that:

1. You do not need a dark film to reduce a lot of heat
2. The type of film is going to make a difference
3. Therefore, it’s worth investing in the best film

Now that was a transparent ceramic film, but let’s quickly go over a reflective film because they block slightly more heat. So right now we’re going to compare the last film. This is a reflective film on the inside. It has a traditional black shade, and there are many different shades of this film, but on the outside, it has a reflectiveness. This reflection is excellent for adding more privacy during the daytime, but most importantly, it’s also good at reducing a little bit more heat.

So we will compare the reflective film’s performance and show how this film is hands-down the best.

Right now, the BTU meter is back at 320, and when we put the film in front of it, there’s a dramatic difference – it drops to just 30! So having compared a standard window film to a ceramic and a reflective film, you can see the difference in the home window tinting advancements over time. Besides the film’s performance, we also wanted to discuss the film’s warranty. Nowadays, if you get a top-performance ceramic or reflective film for your home, you’ll get a lifetime warranty. If you get a reflective or ceramic film for your business, you will get a 15-year warranty. So, not only is it going to perform very well, but you’re going to enjoy the film for over a decade without worrying if it’ll bubble or peel. If it does, it’s always covered under warranty. An additional benefit is that when you get a ceramic or reflective film, you will reduce 99% of those harmful UV rays. These rays cause fading and discolouration of floors, tables, paintings, furniture, etc. Plus, on top of that, if you want the reflective film, you will also benefit from daytime privacy. You’ll be able to see out of your home, and outsiders will no longer be able to see in during the daytime.

This way, you can enjoy the natural light – leave the curtains drawn and the blind up – and let all the natural light fill in the rooms. Meanwhile, nobody can see inside.

So, if you are interested in home window tinting and are deciding if it is worth the investment, hopefully, the above explanation helped. We showcased how alternative window films can reduce half the heat from getting through your windows. This is particularly important during summertime as it can be problematic in England when we reach 25-30+ degrees. Hopefully, you learned a little bit more about the performance of window films. If you have any additional questions that we didn’t answer, please carry on reading the article or reach out to us below.

Problem vs. Solution

❌ Windows are the weakest security point in any home or business. So, with threats on the rise, it’s never been more vital to avoid exploitation with preventative measures.

⚠ For homeowners and employers, the safety of those under your roof is serious food for thought. Yet, how do you prevent serious injury from the likes of broken glass?

✅ Professionally installed window film offers safety AND security. This solution also increases your privacy and the window tint cost pails in comparison to its benefits.

What’s involved in our home window tinting services?

We cover everything drom cleaning to selecting the appropriate film.

The following explains the installation process we undertake when approaching a home window tinting project. First, we clean the window as best as possible with a stainless steel razor blade. To ensure we don’t end up with any scratches or nicks in the glass, we remove any silicone, dirt or paint left on the surface of the window itself. This can either come from the manufacturing process or through years of use.

The biggest thing we want customers to know when we’re cleaning this glass is that – no matter what – we’re going to pick up a little bit of debris along those edges.

The construction of and assembly of the glass and frame means there will be slight gaps within. So, when we add water to the film process, it will occasionally slip out from under the corner of the film. Here at ITD Tinting, we want to ensure our customers are aware that no matter what we do, we will pick up a little bit of debris along those edges. Despite this, vinyl windows will be the cleanest, and painted windows will pick up a little bit more of that dirt and debris. When working, we tend to use already pre-cut film. However, on troublesome windows – just so we have a little extra for the glass – we leave excess that we can trim down for that exact fit.

We’ll show you the differences between what customers want

Such as UV protection or privacy and glare reduction.

We get a lot of questions from customers asking us, “uh, hey, I’ve got issues with the sun on my television; what can you do?” So, we use films that will allow you to get that heat rejection and UV protection. In addition to this, home window tinting will reduce the amount of light in the room. This is perfect if you have glare on televisions, monitors, and things like that.

Now, a big benefit of the following film – or typically darker films – is that you’re going to have a more reflective exterior.

This next film is called a dual-reflective, so it’s got a dual film makeup. So, there’s a smoked layer on the inside and a reflective coating on the outside. When we work on a double pane window, we recommend this. Double panes consist of two panes of glass with air in between – sometimes with argon gas involved or just a typical compressed seal. By installing a reflective film, that double pane glass does not get hot and causes the air in between to expand. This will typically cause the seal to blow out, which then lets in moisture. Otherwise, what you’ll have is the window will overheat to the point where it cracks or shatters the glass.

So, if you’re doing a film installation, you want someone who understands these factors and can give you the proper film for the right job.
